Nature education and scientific communication are more important than ever. I hope to engender a voice for both nature and local communities by providing opportunities for people to learn about wildlife through nature education. Here, I wish to highlight the biodiversity in my local area, and keep people updated on events led by myself or others which focus on public engagement with the natural world. I am excited to see where this adventures takes me!

About Me

My name is Dean. I am an ecologist and conservationist from Newry. I provide opportunities for people to learn about native biodiversity in my local area. I like to use various sources of inspiration from folk traditions, music and the Irish language. My interests in natural history are diverse. Within ecology and conservation science, I focus mainly on botany and entomology. I am particularly interested in oceanic cryptogams (bryophytes, lichens, seaweeds) and plant-pollinator relationships. I spend most of my free time in wooded ravines, grasslands, mountains and the sea. Check out my blog posts to better understand what inspires me in my local area! I am happy to receive correspondence regarding local wildlife and any queries regarding species ID.
